PFS Billing Manager (Remote option)

About the role

The PFS Billing Manager leads the Patient Financial Services billing team, overseeing hospital and clinic insurance claim submissions for government, commercial and third‑party payers. The position offers a remote work option for employees located in employer‑approved states and reports to the Assistant Director of Patient Financial Services.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise two or more full‑time billing staff, including hiring, firing, counseling, and performance appraisals.
• Ensure timely, accurate electronic transmission of claims and monitor CPT‑4, ICD‑9 and HPCS code updates.
• Coordinate credentialing, clinic referrals and maintain compliance with KHI health‑information systems.
• Audit billing, credentialing and referral processes, resolve discrepancies, and interact with insurance representatives to protect cash flow.
• Develop departmental policies, job descriptions and training programs to improve staff performance.
• Analyze volume trends, set operational goals and report quality metrics to senior management.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
• Minimum five years of healthcare insurance billing experience, including electronic claim transmission.
• At least one year of supervisory experience managing billing personnel.
• Strong knowledge of Medicare reimbursement, CPT‑4, ICD‑9 and HPCS coding systems.
