Permitting Manager

About the role

Renewable Properties is seeking a Permitting Manager to lead environmental and land‑use permitting for solar PV, battery energy storage and related electrical infrastructure across the United States, with a particular focus on California. The role supports project development by ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing adverse environmental impacts, and streamlining the permitting process.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development team with screening and siting of prospective solar projects.
• Conduct environmental due diligence for M&A opportunities.
• Manage internal and external consultants to obtain all regulatory, siting and environmental approvals.
• Prepare and track milestone schedules, budgets and staffing for permitting activities.
• Assist in preparing agency applications and represent the company in hearings and community workshops.
• Coordinate consultant management, public‑relations strategies and documentation for land‑use, wetland and wildlife permits.
• Negotiate with wildlife, land‑use and other regulatory agencies to secure acceptable permit conditions.
• Collaborate with origination, finance, construction and asset‑management teams to ensure successful project design, interconnection and long‑term operation.
• Support asset management in identifying long‑term monitoring and reporting requirements.
• Monitor CAPEX expenses during development, review invoices for accuracy and ensure budget conformance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in land‑use planning, environmental permitting and project entitlements for renewable energy projects.
• Ability to manage and coordinate outside consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Experience conducting environmental due diligence for acquisition projects.
• Strong understanding of regulatory processes, permitting timelines and budget management.
• Excellent communication skills for representing the company in public hearings and agency negotiations.
