Per Diem CNA Hospice Aide

About the role

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, offers home health, hospice and community-based services. As a per diem CNA Hospice Aide in the Preston and Mon counties area, you will provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients and support for their families during end-of-life care, helping patients stay comfortable and dignified. The position is full time, Monday to Friday, day shift.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients
• Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics to ambulation, transferring, range of motion and positioning, and household chores
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals, assist with feeding as assigned, and perform homemaking and environmental services as assigned
• Observe, report and document changes in patient status; report inability to perform a task to the primary nurse
• Follow written personal care instructions prepared by a registered nurse according to the plan of care
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone and albumin
• Carry out other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant (CNA)
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance
• Preferred: CNA experience within the last two years
