Payroll Tax Analyst

About the role

The Payroll Tax Analyst ensures Visa’s payroll tax processes remain accurate and compliant across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. You will investigate tax authority inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and support tax‑related initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Handle escalations and resolve tax notices from federal, state, and local agencies promptly.
• Review and correct payroll tax errors, including retroactive tax calculations and gross‑to‑net adjustments.
• Process W‑2 corrections and re‑issues in line with IRS regulations.
• Address employee tax data issues and perform root‑cause analysis to close gaps.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and governing tax laws.
• Support tax‑related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
• Conduct quarterly and annual tax balancing activities.
• Lead special projects aimed at process improvements or new implementations.

Required profile

• 2+ years of payroll tax experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree).
• 5‑7 years of payroll tax experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll tax laws; Canada knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
