Payroll Specialist

About the role

Wilson Construction Company is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its team in Canby, OR. The role focuses on processing a high volume of multi‑state, multi‑union payroll checks for a construction workforce and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Audit timesheets for completeness and accuracy.
• Enter and process multi‑state, multi‑union, cost‑coded payroll.
• Apply federal, state, and union payroll laws.
• Prepare and review union payroll reports.
• Calculate and remit weekly, monthly, and quarterly taxes.
• Resolve outstanding payroll and accounting issues promptly.
• Apply company payroll policies and procedures consistently.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Perform general office duties as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of payroll and accounting experience.
• Experience with in‑house, full‑cycle construction and union payroll preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal, multiple state, and local payroll taxes.
• Understanding of payroll tax, accounting principles, and wage‑hour laws.
• Familiarity with Davis‑Bacon and prevailing wage regulations is a plus.
• Excellent time‑management, analytical, and multitasking abilities.
• Detail‑oriented, reliable, and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
• 10‑key numeric entry by touch.
• Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
• Strong data‑entry skills.
