Patient Registration Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1, a provider of revenue cycle technology for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring a Patient Registration Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. Vincent Hospital (Adult Surgery) in Indianapolis. The shift runs Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM (some holidays). The role is the first point of contact for patients checking into the hospital, and no healthcare background is required because full training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients efficiently using multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
• Help patients navigate the registration process and answer questions with confidence, clarity and compassion
• Gather accurate information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Assist patients who may be ill, anxious or confused
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (with training)
• Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
• Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong customer service experience
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Preferred: medical or healthcare experience (not required)
