Patient Care Technician (PCT) Adjunct Instructor

About the role

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks a qualified Patient Care Technician (PCT) Adjunct Instructor to deliver both hands‑on and theoretical instruction to nursing students. This position combines classroom teaching with direct clinical supervision, supporting student success in a supportive, community‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction, manage classroom activities, and handle administrative tasks such as reports, syllabus and lesson‑plan development.
• Prepare and maintain current course syllabi; ensure teaching aligns with established curriculum.
• Assess student performance regularly and keep accurate records of attendance, grades, and progress.
• Supervise students in various clinical settings, ensuring safe and effective practice.
• Recommend instructional materials, laboratory equipment, and collaborate with tutoring and retention services.
• Participate in professional meetings, represent the college, and maintain communication with PCT program faculty.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Minimum two years of RN experience, including at least one year in long‑term care or elderly services within the past five years.
• Active, unencumbered South Carolina RN license.
• Current American Heart Association Provider CPR certification (Adult & Child).
• Ability to meet clinical participation requirements of the host facility.

Required skills

• Venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Electrocardiogram (ECG) performance.
• CPR (Adult & Child) – Provider and Instructor certifications.
• Clinical nursing competencies as an RN.
