Patient Access Representative – Main Admitting (Full Time)

About the role

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for completing the registration process for patients, including verification of benefits, collection of payments, and accurate data entry, while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service, answer calls, and address patient and staff inquiries.
• Register, preregister, schedule, and discharge patients, ensuring accurate entry of demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record.
• Verify insurance eligibility, obtain pre‑authorizations, collect co‑pays, deductibles and deposits, and balance daily cash.
• Refer complex accounts to financial counselors and perform quality audits of registrations.
• Support department efficiency by floating to other areas, working nights, weekends, holidays and participating in on‑call coverage.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of customer‑service or healthcare registration/billing experience.
• Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
