PAT Financial Coordinator

About the role

The PAT Financial Coordinator supports patients by identifying financial needs early, guiding them through insurance and assistance options, and facilitating point‑of‑service collections. This position acts as the primary link between patients and the revenue cycle to improve satisfaction, increase collections, and reduce bad debt.

Key responsibilities

• Identify patients with financial needs before appointments.
• Assist with insurance verification, Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans.
• Promote point‑of‑service collections and establish payment arrangements.
• Provide financial counseling and help patients navigate available resources.
• Serve as liaison between patients and revenue‑cycle teams.
• Support access to care by reducing barriers related to cost.

Required profile

• Associate degree in business, healthcare administration, finance or related field (preferred).
• At least two years of experience in healthcare registration, medical billing, insurance verification, customer service or financial counseling.
• Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center or community health setting (preferred).
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance.
• Strong customer‑service and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to explain payment options and set up payment plans.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
