Part‑time Librarian – Academic Library

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a part‑time Librarian to support the media center of a technical college. Working under the Director of Library and Media Services, you will help staff, faculty, and students access and use library resources.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a comprehensive media center and supervise physical processing of library materials.
• Catalog books and other items using standard practices and library classification systems.
• Recommend and process orders of materials and equipment, keeping acquisition records.
• Provide technical support for library software and act as system administrator for automated library systems.
• Deliver information and research services, manage reference materials, and assist patrons.
• Oversee circulation, interlibrary loan services, and compile usage reports.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and manuals for library operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA‑accredited institution.
• Preferred: ALMA Administrator Certification and at least one year of cataloging experience, preferably in an academic library.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the ALMA library system.
• Cataloging expertise and familiarity with library classification (Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress).
• Strong computer and library‑software skills.
