Part‑Time Lecturer – Institutional Leadership and the Public Manager

About the role

The School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University seeks a part‑time instructor to teach PPUA 6507, a core graduate course on institutional leadership and public management. Classes meet in the evening on the Arlington campus, allowing working professionals to attend.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lecture and discussion sessions covering legislative relations, media relations, court roles, unions, advocacy groups, policy implementation, evaluation, and integrity standards.
• Integrate federal agency leadership, congressional relations, and executive‑branch management topics relevant to the Arlington location.
• Support the NASPAA‑accredited Master of Public Administration program and adapt teaching to enrollment and funding needs.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field (preferred) or an advanced master’s degree with extensive public‑sector leadership experience.
• Significant senior‑level experience in public‑sector management, legislative affairs, media relations, or federal agency leadership.
• College‑level teaching experience is preferred; professional experience in government or nonprofit leadership is a plus.
