About the role
The Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking calm, customer‑service‑oriented individuals to join its central dispatch center on a part‑time basis. You will serve as the safety line for wildland firefighters, handling emergency calls and coordinating response resources.
Key responsibilities
- Dispatch fire equipment and personnel to wildfires and other emergencies.
- Receive, review, and process burn‑permit requests.
- Send appropriate crews to investigate smoke complaints.
- Answer general information requests and connect callers to the right department.
Required profile
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Strong verbal communication and judgment.
- Comfort handling multiple phone calls simultaneously.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts (7 am‑3 pm or 1 pm‑10 pm on a two‑week cycle).
Required skills
- Typing proficiency.
What we offer
- Hourly pay of $13.50 for morning/afternoon shifts and $15.50 for midnight shifts.
