Parts Specialist

About the role

The Parts Specialist provides high‑level service to retail and installer customers while supporting store management with daily operational tasks. This position interacts directly with customers in‑store and over the phone, ensuring a seamless parts‑shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and follow company customer‑service programs such as Hi‑5, Low Price Guarantee, and Rock the Call.
• Greet walk‑in customers, assist them in selecting merchandise, and provide phone support with accurate parts lookup and quoting.
• Maintain cash drawer, process payments, and handle exchanges and returns according to policy.
• Perform daily store duties including freight receival, stocking, planogram updates, cleaning, and inventory cycle counts.
• Prepare new, core, and warranty merchandise returns for the distribution center.
• Operate brake lathe and other test equipment after training.
• Deliver in‑store services where permitted (install wipers, test batteries, scan vehicle trouble codes, replace headlight capsules, etc.).
• Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle when business needs require.
• Complete all required training and assist managers or installer specialists as directed.

Required profile

• Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
• Strong, friendly, and professional customer‑service orientation.
• Capacity to multitask, handling phone and in‑store customers simultaneously.
• Valid driving record that meets company eligibility requirements.
• Fluency in multiple languages is a plus, with Spanish highly desired.

Required skills

• Operation of a brake lathe.
• Battery testing and charging system diagnostics.
• Scanning and interpreting vehicle OBD trouble codes.
• Replacement of headlight capsules.
• Familiarity with automotive parts cataloging and the Weatherly index system.
• ASE certification (preferred).
