About the role
Bureau Veritas is seeking qualified Structural Engineers with a seismic focus for part‑time, as‑needed assignments in and around Salt Lake City, Utah. The role involves project‑based seismic risk assessment consulting, on‑site building assessments, and limited seismic retrofit design, offering flexibility and meaningful work.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct client‑facing on‑site seismic risk assessments and prepare detailed reports (e.g., ASCE‑41 Tier 1, building system assessments).
- Perform structural calculations in accordance with modern and historic building codes for investigations or limited retrofit projects.
- Carry out on‑site reconnaissance, visual observations, plan reviews, and interview stakeholders to gather site information.
- Document findings with photographs, field notes, and research from building department records.
- Manage project communication with internal teams and clients, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- 3–7 years of seismic engineering experience, including at least 3 years of seismic design and 2 years of seismic risk assessment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or on a path to licensure.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interaction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and inspection‑related tools.
