Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is hiring a part-time, PRN as needed Customer Service Representative for its Ascension St. John Broken Arrow site. You will help patients check into the hospital and answer questions during registration, building trust by collecting information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient information in a busy environment, across multiple screens, so that details are entered correctly between physician and nurse check-ins.
• Type quickly and work across multiple programs, staying ready for clinicians to interrupt the process for urgent care.
• Listen carefully to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time.
• Collect patient and insurance information quickly, knowing that health plans and coverage vary widely.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire.
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital/lab setting.

Required skills

• Quick study of technology and ability to type and answer phones.
• Confident multi-tasker able to handle fast-paced, unpredictable work.

The base pay range is $14.50 - $18.99 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The position is US-based and part-time, with shifts at Ascension St. John Broken Arrow.
