Paralegal – Government Contracting & Labor Law Support

About the role

Patriot Maritime is seeking a Paralegal to serve as an embedded legal resource for its maritime government‑contracting operations. The role supports day‑to‑day legal activities, labor and employment matters, and compliance with federal contracting requirements while the company restructures its in‑house legal function.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and manage contracts, sub‑contracts, teaming agreements, and contract modifications for MARAD/MSC vessel programs.
• Assist with Service Contract Act and Davis‑Bacon Act compliance, wage determination tracking, and related documentation.
• Maintain contract files, correspondence logs, and deliverables for multiple active government contracts.
• Support Basis of Estimate documentation and proposal preparation in coordination with operations and finance.
• Track contract performance obligations, reporting deadlines, and key milestones.
• Provide labor‑relations support for maritime unions, assist with ERISA and Taft‑Hartley benefit‑plan compliance, and research employment‑law issues (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, etc.).
• Prepare position statements, EEOC responses, and various employment documents such as separation agreements and offer letters.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation matters, organize litigation files, and manage court deadlines and filings.
• Assist with workers’ compensation matters and liaison with insurance carriers and state agencies.

Required profile

• Highly organized and discreet professional capable of working independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in government contracting, maritime law, or labor‑employment law preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple legal files and meet strict deadlines.
