Paralegal (French/Spanish) – International Investment Dispute Center

About the role

The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) is seeking two paralegals to support its legal teams. One position requires fluency in French and the other in Spanish, in addition to English. The role is a three‑year fixed‑term appointment based in Washington, DC.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, format, proofread and finalize case‑related correspondence in English and the required language.
• Prepare draft documents for review by Chief Counsel, Team Leader and legal counsel.
• File submissions and case documents in the ICSID document management system following established standards.
• Coordinate parties’ submissions on the external file‑sharing site and provide technical assistance to parties and arbitrators.
• Acknowledge receipt of submissions, verify completeness and track procedural milestones in case tracking systems.
• Maintain calendars of deadlines and events for each case and the legal team.
• Oversee publication of case materials and conduct legal research using case files and online databases.
• Prepare budget estimates and draft letters requesting cost advances.

Required profile

• Fluency in English and either French or Spanish, depending on the position.
• Strong written communication skills for drafting legal documents in multiple languages.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple case files simultaneously.
• Experience with document management and case tracking systems is preferred.
