Paralegal Aide II – Legal Support for NYPD

About the role

The New York City Police Department is seeking a Paralegal Aide II to support its Early Intervention Program and various legal inquiries. This position provides critical assistance in data management, legal research, and case analysis to help maintain the department’s high standards of performance and accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Locate, assemble, organize, and monitor records, documents, and data related to stop‑question‑frisk, racial profiling complaints, adverse credibility findings, suppression decisions, and declined‑to‑prosecute cases.
• Develop and maintain an Early Intervention System (EIS) tracking arrests, use‑of‑force incidents, and disciplinary actions.
• Assist in reviewing background information for departmental responses and legal filings.
• Conduct routine legal research, prepare summaries, and draft legal communications for senior staff review.
• Support case studies and projects that identify patterns, trends, and data‑driven recommendations.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
• Permanent status in the Paralegal Aide series or eligibility for exam numbers 1140 or 4070.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with commanding officers, health and wellness staff, and the Early Intervention Committee.
