Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN)

About the role

The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) provides entry‑level, clinically competent care to patients undergoing hemodialysis. Working within the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) team, the RN assesses, plans, intervenes, and evaluates patient needs while supporting education and quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis, documenting findings and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
• Deliver patient and family education on dialysis, transplant options, and treatment modalities.
• Coordinate safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy, delegating tasks to LVNs, LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians.
• Administer prescribed medications and document justification and effectiveness.
• Initiate emergency response measures and act as a resource for the health‑care team.
• Ensure accurate laboratory collection, processing, and shipping; reschedule missed collections.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments and care plans.
• Participate in staff training, orientation, and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with entry‑level designation (CAP 1) in the Clinical Advancement Program.
• Ability to assess patient needs, document care, and communicate with physicians and team leaders.
• Willingness to complete CAP requirements for professional advancement.
• Compliance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, state and federal regulations.
