Outpatient Nurse (RN)

About the role

The Outpatient Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in a fast‑paced outpatient setting, supporting physicians and ensuring safe, high‑quality clinical experiences for patients undergoing procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany patients to exam rooms, prepare them for exams, record vital signs, and assist with office procedures.
• Administer and document medications with physician authorization and perform phlebotomy.
• Educate patients on office policies, medication use, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
• Retrieve lab and x‑ray reports, place prescription calls, conduct telephone triage, obtain referrals and authorizations, and complete medical forms.
• Order and stock medical supplies, clean exam rooms, and dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA standards.
• Maintain accurate, legal, and ethical documentation and perform front‑office duties as assigned.
• Coordinate pre‑operative work‑ups, contact patients for pre‑op checklists, and document communications.
• Assist with patient assessment, monitoring, and post‑procedure instructions.

Required profile

• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• General experience in a physician office setting preferred.
• Registered Nurse license from South Carolina Department of Labor.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification (American Heart Association) preferred.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficient computer and PC skills.
