Outpatient Lymphedema Occupational Therapist

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring an Outpatient Lymphedema Occupational Therapist in Tavares, Florida. The position is full-time, day shift (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, 40 hours), and involves evaluating and treating patients with lymphedema, designing treatment plans and supporting discharge planning.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and re-evaluate patients using recommended techniques and standards, then design and implement a treatment plan based on best practice, insurance guidelines and patient needs.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and expected outcomes.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Document accurately and timely using measurable, objective terminology and follow department and hospital policies.
• Provide discharge planning assistance and information on adaptive equipment and follow-up services.
• Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and rehabilitation therapy aides.
• Maintain clinical competencies, use evidence-based practice, and act as a clinical instructor; participate in quality improvement and practice change.
• Charge patients accurately and on time according to CPT code guidelines and insurance rules, and adjust working hours to meet patient needs and patient census changes.

Required profile

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) and Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA); education required by the licensing or certification body.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• May need to assist intermittently with orthopedic or neurological populations.
• Willingness to adapt working hours to support other centers or programs when patient census changes.
