Outpatient Behavioral Health Technician

About the role

The Behavioral Health Technician I joins Vail Health's multidisciplinary outpatient team to support patient care in a therapeutic setting. The role involves direct patient interaction, documentation, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs, maintain patient documentation, and perform administrative duties.
• Field patient phone calls promptly and provide education and support as directed.
• Maintain a clean, well‑stocked clinical environment and prepare equipment for use.
• Follow departmental policies, OSHA rules, infection‑control standards, and quality‑assurance procedures.
• Participate in shift opening and closing procedures and other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months of direct patient care or community behavioral health experience, or completion of Vail Health’s competency program.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
• HIPAA compliance and adherence to a Just Culture.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification (CPI) or Therapeutic Options™ training.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications for documentation.
