Optometrist – Comprehensive Eye Care Physician

About the role

Ochsner Health’s Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible comprehensive Optometrist to join its Section of Optometry in New Orleans. The position focuses on primary eye care, offering opportunities to engage in clinical teaching and collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary eye care, including comprehensive eye examinations and management of ocular conditions.
• Fit and manage contact lenses and address ocular disease when needed.
• Participate in Grand Rounds and contribute to the education of optometry and ophthalmology residents and medical students.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Optometry.
• Experience with contact lens practice and ocular disease management is preferred but not mandatory.
• Willingness to engage in teaching activities for residents and medical students.

Required skills

• Contact lens fitting and management.
• Ocular disease diagnosis and treatment.
• Proficiency with the EPIC electronic health record system.
