Operator Mechanic – Chemical Processing Plant

About the role

We are seeking an Operator Mechanic to manage day‑to‑day operations of a chemical processing plant. Reporting to the Production Lead, you will ensure safe, efficient production while supporting process‑safety initiatives on Hydroxide Line 1.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and interpret process data, troubleshoot issues, and adjust operations per SOPs.
• Complete permits and job walk‑downs for maintenance and contractor work (Lockout/Tag‑out, Safe Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Break, etc.).
• Participate actively in the Behavior‑Based Safety program.
• Operate a forklift to move materials to and from process areas.
• Sample, test, and submit requests for process samples using LQM and make required adjustments.
• Perform productivity maintenance tasks using basic hand tools.

Required profile

• Technical diploma, associate degree, or certification in Chemical Process Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related field (strongly preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to operate multiple circuits and run more than one unit simultaneously when required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of RCRA/Hazardous Waste handling procedures.
