Operator I – Water Treatment Operations

About the role

Veolia is seeking an Operator I to run and maintain sludge dewatering and water‑treatment equipment at a refinery/industrial site. The role ensures water is purified to meet customer specifications while supporting safe and efficient plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators and related mechanical equipment.
• Control valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers and chemical feed systems.
• Run odor‑control, disinfection units and sludge‑processing filters including belt presses.
• Perform routine testing, monitoring and documentation of process parameters.
• Respond to 24‑hour emergency on‑call rotations as required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; related experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read and comprehend English operational and safety instructions.
• Basic math skills and willingness to work in a team environment.

Required skills

• Operation of pumps, engines and centrifuges.
• Use of generators, valves, mixers and conveyors.
• Handling of blowers, dryers and chemical feed equipment.
• Management of odor‑control, disinfection and sludge‑processing filters.
• Experience with belt presses and material‑handling equipment.
• Proficiency with process‑control computer software.
