Operator General Foreman – Civil Construction

About the role

Archer Western, a member of the Walsh Group, is looking for an Operator General Foreman to lead a crew of 3‑15 construction workers on civil projects in Surprise, AZ. The role involves supervising daily operations, coordinating equipment use, and ensuring that highway, heavy‑civil, and building structures are built, maintained, or repaired safely and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule crew activities, communicating with other trades to keep the project on track.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine construction requirements.
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations for structures or equipment using appropriate tools.
• Record personnel, production, and operational data on required forms and reports.
• Provide hands‑on assistance with hand tools and equipment as needed.
• Inspect work progress, equipment, and site conditions to verify safety and compliance with specifications.
• Enforce safety protocols and maintain a drug‑free work environment.
• Train and mentor crew members on company policies, safety practices, and procedural guidelines.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of verifiable construction experience, with foreman or crew‑lead experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing crews and subcontractors.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with crew, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Physical ability to climb scaffolds or ladders, lift up to 50 lb, and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Willingness to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and adhere to all safety policies.
