Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Operations Supervisor leads a team of warehouse and yard personnel to ensure efficient ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, and shipping of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts. This role is pivotal in meeting customer metrics and maintaining high inventory accuracy within a fast‑paced logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review inbound appointment logs and open order reports daily to plan work activities and schedule inbound/outbound shipments.
• Determine staffing needs based on workload, schedule staff, and assign workers to specific duties.
• Update operational procedures, appraise performance, reward or discipline employees, and resolve grievances.
• Track productivity and performance metrics for individuals, functions, and the department.
• Collaborate with Inventory Control to achieve the highest possible inventory accuracy.
• Manage department payroll and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Provide guidance on handling, storing, and shipping items and equipment.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, trace item histories, and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising 20+ employees in a warehouse or logistics setting.
• Strong ability to plan work schedules, allocate resources, and meet customer service metrics.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills for inventory discrepancies and workflow bottlenecks.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce them.
