Operations Supervisor - 2nd Shift

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group is seeking an Operations Supervisor for the 2nd shift at its Salt Lake City facility. The role provides hands‑on leadership for a skilled manufacturing team, driving operational excellence, safety and continuous improvement on a 9/80 schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead performance management, scheduling, training and professional development for shift personnel.
• Collaborate daily with department leads and operators to review standard work and provide guidance.
• Develop leadership bench strength for new programs and attrition.
• Lead root‑cause and corrective‑action (RCCA) initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure material flow to work cells and oversee long‑term quality projects.
• Create and annually review Job Safety Analyses.
• Partner with Value Stream Managers and Lean leaders to implement process improvements and attend related meetings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of manufacturing operations experience, preferably in aerospace or defense.
• Strong knowledge of assembly, test operations and precision manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read technical drawings, work instructions, engineering change orders and test procedures.
• Solid understanding of Lean principles such as 5S, value‑stream mapping, standard work and waste reduction.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• Leadership experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.

• Microsoft Excel and MS Office proficiency.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and engineering change orders.
• Root‑cause and corrective‑action (RCCA) methodology.
• Lean manufacturing tools (5S, value‑stream mapping, standard work).
