Operations Management Manager I (M1)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager I in Operations Management (M1) to lead production and operational functions for its capital equipment and systems in Austin, TX. The role focuses on supervising manufacturing activities, improving cycle times, and ensuring safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise employees across assembly, inspection, test, and final test functions for capital equipment manufacturing.
• Prioritize production schedules based on manpower, equipment efficiency, capacity, and material requirements.
• Participate in operational meetings, develop and track performance metrics, and schedule milestone meetings.
• Ensure timely response to operational issues, manage cost‑of‑quality analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Oversee employee safety, environmental health and safety training, and compliance with safety policies.
• Develop personnel through training, performance management, hiring, and discipline processes.
• Support capacity optimization, implement process improvements, and drive Lean, Safety, and Quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Formal supervisory experience with responsibility for setting priorities and coaching employees to meet daily deadlines.
• Ability to use judgment to identify and resolve day‑to‑day technical and operational problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills to exchange information diplomatically and handle sensitive issues.
• Understanding of Applied Materials’ global Standards of Business Conduct and ethical expectations.
