Operations Facility Specialist - Part-Time

About the role

The Dayton Convention Center, a 150,000 sq. ft. event facility managed by ASM Global and owned by the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority, is looking for an Operations Facility Specialist. Working under general supervision, the specialist cleans, maintains and prepares the facility for events. The work includes skilled and semi-skilled tasks, often requiring heavy lifting and a high degree of physical activity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of the setup and conversion process for events, including setting up and removing tables, chairs, operable walls, barricades, stages, flooring, furnishings and equipment.
• Keep day-to-day operations running: load and unload delivery trucks, transport trash and recycling to the disposal area and replenish supplies.
• Assist with pre- and post-event cleaning and janitorial work, such as sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, floor and carpet care, stain removal and window washing.
• Perform light maintenance such as painting and patching.
• Report irregularities, damage, loss of property and safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
• Use appropriate equipment and supplies to clean and maintain the facility and carry out other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver's license.
• Able to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs at a time and occasionally moving up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods and walking extensively.

Required skills

• Knowledge of event setup and conversion practices and of cleaning and maintenance procedures.
• Customer service to internal and external customers and good relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors and patrons.
• Follows policies, risk management, safety precautions and emergency procedures.
• Works independently, organizes work to meet deadlines and adapts to changing situations.
