Operations Associate – Cash Processing

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is seeking an Operations Associate to join its cash processing team in Houston, Texas. The role focuses on handling, validating, and securely distributing currency while ensuring strict compliance with custody control procedures. You will work on both high‑speed counting equipment and shipping/receiving functions to support the bank’s financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process, validate, securely destroy, and distribute currency in line with established control protocols.
• Operate high‑speed counting and shredding equipment, including power resets, jam clearance, and operator transitions.
• Count and verify deposits (including contaminated notes), fulfill currency/coin orders, and prepare secure shipments for armored‑car pickup.
• Generate reports and balance work using automated cash systems and intermediate‑level mathematical skills.
• Complete required paperwork for routing and maintain accurate records of room functions.
• Support teammates with daily workloads, assist in other areas as needed, and contribute to process‑improvement projects.
• Identify and correct balancing errors for self and others with minimal assistance.
• Assist in drafting or updating desk and operating procedures when required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent education/experience).
• 1–3 years of experience in cash handling, currency processing equipment, or cash‑vault operations.
• Ability to obtain forklift and power‑lift certifications.
• Physical capability to push, pull, and store currency containers.
• Strong adherence to Custody Control principles and ability to work independently.
