About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated Operations Fall Intern to support office and inventory functions in Louisville, KY. This internship offers hands‑on experience in humanitarian logistics and administrative support while contributing to the IRC’s mission of helping vulnerable communities worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Administrative Assistant with reception duties, client inquiries, and directing requests to appropriate staff.
- Coordinate with office and equipment maintenance providers to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage check‑out processes for staff and clients using the Contributions‑In‑Kind (CIK) stockroom.
- Handle incoming, existing, and outgoing inventory items, including data entry, recording client distributions, and stocking donations.
- Conduct weekly vehicle inspections using a checklist.
- Enter inventory counts into Excel, Sortly, and other platforms.
- Follow all IRC policies, procedures, and protocols.
Required profile
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or less than 12 months post‑graduation.
- Access to reliable personal transportation; ability to lift up to 50 lb.
- Availability during IRC business hours (M‑F, 9 AM‑5 PM).
- Ability to handle confidential client information.
- Strong intercultural communication skills and fluency in English (Spanish a plus).
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to learn inventory software such as Sortly.
