About the role
The Operational Excellence (OpEx) Co‑Op is a one‑year development program within a world‑class medical device manufacturing environment. You will support performance improvement by applying Lean Manufacturing, data analytics and structured problem‑solving techniques.
Key responsibilities
- Support Lean initiatives such as Kaizen events, Gemba walks, Value Stream Mapping and waste reduction.
- Analyze manufacturing metrics (throughput, cycle time, OEE, yield, scrap, downtime, inventory, WIP).
- Assist with line balancing, capacity planning, labor optimization and production flow improvements.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, A3 and DMAIC methods.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations with Excel, Power BI, Minitab and Visio.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Technical Operations teams.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, GMP and Johnson & Johnson quality requirements.
Required profile
- At least four years completed of an accredited undergraduate program, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Expected graduation after July 2028, cumulative GPA ≥ 3.3.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish with strong written and verbal communication.
- Authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship.
Required skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, dashboards, formulas).
- Data analysis and visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau, Minitab, Visio.
- Lean Manufacturing methodologies: Kaizen, Gemba, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work.
- Root‑cause analysis techniques: 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, A3, DMAIC.
- Statistical concepts: OEE, SPC, Cp/Cpk, process capability.
- Programming and database skills: SQL, Python, Power Automate.
- Lean Six Sigma or related continuous‑improvement training.
