About the role
The Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor is seeking a full‑time Oncology Counselor to provide individual support to patients and families affected by cancer. The role involves both online and in‑person counseling within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide assessment, short‑term counseling, crisis intervention, adjustment counseling, depression/anxiety screening, and bereavement support to individuals and families receiving cancer treatment.
- Drive awareness of on‑site programs such as support groups, healthy‑lifestyle classes, educational workshops, and practical assistance.
- Serve as the primary clinical contact for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other staff to coordinate care.
- Participate in individual and weekly group clinical supervision led by a licensed social worker.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Social Work, counseling, or a related field.
- Current clinical license (LLMSW, LMSW).
- Excellent clinical and therapeutic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with diverse populations and proficient computer skills.
- Proficiency in therapeutic modalities such as CBT or DBT.
