Offensive Hardware Security Engineer, Platform Security

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a senior engineer to lead vulnerability assessments across its platform security stack. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to identify and eliminate security flaws from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Audit secure boot chains from firmware through OS initialization for CPUs, BMCs, switches, peripherals, and embedded microcontrollers.
• Assess attestation systems that provide cryptographic proof of system state from hardware root of trust to the application layer.
• Evaluate measured boot implementations and runtime integrity monitoring.
• Integrate security controls with infrastructure teams while preserving AI training performance.
• Validate security mechanisms before production deployment.
• Conduct firmware vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Build continuous firmware vulnerability assessment pipelines.
• Document security architectures and maintain threat models.
• Collaborate with software and hardware vendors to ensure exploit‑mitigation capabilities meet requirements.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience auditing complex, security‑critical systems.
• Deep knowledge of secure boot, measured boot, and attestation technologies (TPM, Intel TXT, AMD SEV, ARM TrustZone).
• Strong understanding of cryptographic protocols and hardware security modules.
• Experience with UEFI/BIOS, embedded firmware security, bootloader hardening, and chain‑of‑trust implementation.
• Ability to work across hardware and software boundaries and communicate findings effectively.
