Ocean Lifeguard

About the role

We are looking for a seasonal Ocean Lifeguard to join the Outdoor Pursuits Department at Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, New York. The role ensures the safety of members and guests in the pool, ocean, beach and water slide areas while delivering the high‑quality experience expected from Discovery Land Company.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor pool and ocean activities, enforce safety rules and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain a clean and organized appearance of aquatic areas throughout the shift.
• Set up and break down equipment and activities daily.
• Report safety or maintenance issues promptly to the Beach Director.
• Provide risk management and first‑aid treatment as needed.
• Attend required meetings, trainings and obtain Ellis certification for pool and dark‑water conditions.

Required profile

• Current Suffolk County Civil Service Ocean Lifeguard Certification.
• CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Minimum two years experience in an aquatic environment preferred.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to stand, walk and lift up to 50 lb for extended periods.

Required skills

• Ellis certification for pool and dark‑water conditions.
• CPR.
• AED.
• First Aid.
