Occupational Safety Manager

About the role

The Occupational Safety Manager leads Georgetown University’s occupational health and safety program, ensuring compliance with OSHA, District of Columbia regulations, and university policies. Reporting to the Director of Fire Prevention and Occupational Safety, the role serves as the subject‑matter expert for all safety initiatives across campus facilities, construction, and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs covering LOTO, confined spaces, fall protection, PPE, and more.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments for capital projects, maintenance activities, and daily operations.
• Review contractor safety plans, perform job‑site inspections, and enforce corrective actions.
• Collaborate with project managers, facilities staff, and external consultants to integrate safety requirements throughout project lifecycles.
• Deliver classroom, field, and online training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in occupational safety within a large, multi‑site environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and D.C. safety regulations.
• Ability to lead investigations, develop corrective actions, and communicate safety policies effectively.
