Nursing Program Specialist

About the role

The Nursing Program Specialist provides specialized public health nursing services within the Florida Department of Health, Collier County. Based in Naples with one day per week coverage in Immokalee, the role focuses on infectious disease prevention, treatment, education, and follow‑up, while supporting multiple health programs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver public health nursing services to infectious disease clients, including assessment, case management, health education, and coordination of care.
• Provide nursing support for family planning, tuberculosis, refugee health, immigration health, and adult health programs.
• Administer immunizations, conduct laboratory testing, and follow up on abnormal results.
• Monitor and manage infectious disease medication inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
• Serve as backup for the Employee Health Program, handling immunizations, screenings, and occupational health duties.
• Offer coverage for pediatric immunization services when required.
• Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations.
• Participate in performance improvement committees and uphold the Department’s ICARE values.

Required profile

• Current employee of the Florida Department of Health (OPS, Career Service, SES, or SMS).
• Registered Nurse with experience in public health or communicable disease nursing.
• Ability to travel to Immokalee one day per week and work onsite in Naples.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, health information privacy, and medication management.
