Nuclear Engineer

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing portable nuclear microreactors and seeks a motivated Nuclear Engineer to lead design and analysis for its Kaleidos 1‑MW microreactor. You will work in a fast‑paced startup environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own nuclear design analyses, including shielding, neutronics, and criticality safety.
• Perform operational dose, shutdown activation, and waste categorization studies.
• Analyze ex‑vessel reactor fluxes, energy deposition, and verify nuclear models.
• Assess radiological dose consequences for accident scenarios.
• Run coupled neutronics‑thermal transient calculations to evaluate reactor dynamics.
• Gather requirements and provide technical feedback to other engineering functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or a related accredited field.
• 1–2+ years of nuclear engineering experience (or equivalent Master’s experience).
• Strong understanding of radiation transport, thermal‑hydraulic principles, and safety analysis.

Required skills

• Experience with radiation transport codes such as MCNP, OpenMC, or Serpent.
• Proficiency in at least one scientific programming language (Python, C++, C#, FORTRAN).
• Basic knowledge of thermal‑hydraulic analysis.
