NIMS/AHIMT Coordinator – Emergency Management

About the role

The GEMA/HS NIMS/AHIMT Coordinator will support Georgia’s emergency management mission by planning, delivering and tracking National Incident Management System (NIMS) training and Incident Management Team (IMT) development across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate planning, coordination, implementation, tracking and reporting of NIMS training and IMT development.
• Assist local and state partner agencies with required NIMS training while respecting GEMA/HS priorities.
• Maintain up‑to‑date databases and paper records of qualifications for Georgia IMT members and State Operations Center personnel.
• Maintain and update the instructor list and develop qualified NIMS/AHIMT instructors.
• Inventory and manage all GEMA/HS AHIMT equipment.

Required profile

• Four years of experience in planning, developing and delivering diversified training programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in any field **or** four+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a Master’s degree plus two years of experience.
• Eligibility for state instructor certification (POST Instructor, POST Evaluator, FEMA Exercise Practitioner).
• Demonstrated understanding of emergency management and incident command system functions.
• Ability to travel overnight and statewide as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and desktop publishing software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
