Night Unit Secretary – Med/Tele 3

About the role

The Unit Secretary provides essential clerical support to ensure smooth patient flow and a positive experience on a busy night shift. Working within the Med/Tele 3 unit, you will coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers, and serve as a patient‑experience ambassador.

Key responsibilities

• Manage admit, discharge, and transfer functions for the unit.
• Handle phone calls, call bells, and reservation processing.
• Refer patient, family, and staff requests to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Assess EPIC chart reports to verify accurate unit charges and utilization.
• Adapt communication style to respect patient privacy and diverse needs.
• Provide general clerical assistance to the interdisciplinary team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a medical or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and manage time effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry software.
• Familiarity with the EPIC electronic health‑record system.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) knowledge.
