NextJS Developer – Student Portal

About the role

The NextJS Developer will join the UMGC Student Portal team to design, develop, document, and maintain front‑end solutions that enhance the student experience. This remote position works in an agile environment and focuses on delivering high‑quality, accessible web applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality software solutions based on defined requirements.
• Work with Next.js, React, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with the portal team to estimate, plan, and deliver user stories, bug fixes, and tasks within sprints.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.
• Perform code, environment, and design reviews.
• Lead delivery and deployment processes, including CI/CD management.
• Work with QA testers to guarantee proper test coverage and resolve defects.
• Participate in daily scrum stand‑ups and other Agile ceremonies.
• Troubleshoot and respond to incidents with appropriate urgency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in software development, computer science, engineering, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to analyze technical problems and propose effective solutions.
• Experience developing, testing, and supporting web applications in an Agile setting.
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.2).
