Neonatal Nurse Practitioner PRN

About the role

This position enhances the quality of care for at‑risk or critically ill neonates and infants. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner works closely with the Medical Director, NICU Unit Director, staff nurses, and physicians to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care.

Key responsibilities

• Primary medical management and emergency stabilization of critically ill neonates and infants.
• Provide 24/7 in‑house coverage for NICU and high‑risk deliveries, including emergency transport.
• Precept NNP students, teach NICU residents and medical students, and lead staff development and education.
• Coordinate parental education, discharge planning, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in nursing (or NNP certificate for pre‑2003 hires).
• Minimum 2 years of related nursing experience.
• Current APRN Nurse Practitioner license in Louisiana with limited prescriptive authority.
• Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification (NCC) and BLS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications.
