MTS Lead, Technology & Security Engineering
reflectionai · New York City
Job description
About the role
Reflection AI is building open AI models and needs a senior leader to design and operate the security engineering foundation protecting its corporate environment, multi‑cloud research infrastructure, and multi‑million‑dollar GPU training capacity. The MTS Lead will own the full technical security stack while enabling fast, low‑friction research.
Key responsibilities
- Design and manage a resilient corporate device fleet across Linux, macOS, Windows and NVIDIA GPU workstations, shifting from restrictive MDM to intelligent posture verification.
- Architect cloud‑native security controls, IAM governance, network segmentation, and isolation for multi‑cloud GPU clusters.
- Implement zero‑trust, context‑aware access using mesh networks (e.g., Tailscale, Cloudflare One) and hardware‑backed authentication (WebAuthn/FIDO2).
- Ensure 100% of infrastructure, endpoint configurations, IAM policies and cloud environments are declared as code (Terraform/Pulumi) with CI/CD validation.
- Build telemetry pipelines for behavioral detection engineering, detecting post‑exploitation, lateral movement and living‑off‑the‑land attacks.
- Lead compliance, audit and vendor risk activities for SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, NIST CSF and related standards.
Required profile
- 20+ years of deep engineering experience in high‑valuation or defense‑grade environments.
- Proven technical leadership building security engineering functions at scale.
- Executive presence to represent security posture to auditors, customers and vendors.
- Ability to operate as both a strategic leader and hands‑on builder in fast‑moving research settings.
Required skills
- Linux and macOS internals, including securing NVIDIA GPUs.
- Public cloud architectures, IAM governance, Kubernetes and container isolation.
- Infrastructure‑as‑code tools: Terraform, Pulumi.
- Zero‑trust networking tools: Tailscale, Cloudflare One.
- Hardware‑backed authentication: WebAuthn, FIDO2.
- Security standards: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, ISO 22237, ISO 22301, NIST CSF.
