Motor Vehicle Representative (MVR 1)

About the role

The Motor Vehicle Representative (MVR 1) provides direct assistance to the public on licensing, registration, identification, testing, insurance, penalties, hearings and related agency programs. The position involves both in‑person and telephone interactions, ensuring accurate service delivery in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Handle substantial face‑to‑face and telephone contacts with customers seeking motor‑vehicle services.
• Operate multiple computer applications simultaneously to retrieve and update records.
• Use telecommunication consoles, cash drawers, photocopiers, fax machines, scanners and calculators as needed.
• Process customer payments (cash, checks, credit cards) and manage inventories of documents, license plates and registration stickers.
• Wear a headset and answer calls routed through a complex telephonic system, with calls monitored for quality assurance.
• Maintain professionalism when dealing with uncooperative or hostile individuals.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of customer‑service experience in a face‑to‑face or call‑center setting, or 30 college semester credit hours.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous under stressful or confrontational situations.
• Eligibility for transfer or reinstatement under civil‑service rules where applicable.
