Modernization Project Engineer

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Modernization Project Engineer to coordinate modernization projects between Watervliet Arsenal (WVA), customers, ACC-WVA, DEVCOM-Benet Laboratories, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and engineering firms, ensuring projects meet end-user requirements. The role also covers major engineering projects for the procurement and installation of complex production systems for cannon components, including plating, heat-treating and advanced manufacturing processes, and acts as liaison between WVA's higher headquarters and the Army Supply Agency.

Key responsibilities

• Represent WVA at design meetings and communicate production impacts to WVA personnel
• Prepare project timelines, cost estimates and task lists, and give technical advice to other project officers
• Coordinate design phases with managers and staff, resolve conflicts between engineering and management requirements, and prepare reports on progress and quality
• Conduct final inspections with USACE and coordinate purchase, delivery, storage and safeguarding of materials
• Ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time, and comply with safety, quality and procedure requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• At least five years of experience as a mechanical engineer with large/heavy manufacturing equipment and its layout
• Valid driver's license, ability to pass a drug screen and background check, and facility credentials (U.S. citizenship required)
• Ability to speak, read and write English

Required skills

• Knowledge of industrial production processes, facilities arrangements and layouts
• Complex knowledge of engineering regulations, manuals and procedures
• PMP certification preferred
