MMF Maintenance Technician

About the role

The MMF Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient repair, maintenance, and operation of all landfill‑related equipment, tools, and facilities at the Materials Management Facility. The role supports daily landfill operations while complying with the MMF O&M Manual, operating permit, and all relevant safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain landfill equipment, tools, fleet vehicles, and facilities.
• Perform routine safety checks, preventive maintenance, and on‑call emergency response.
• Maintain accurate work orders, track materials used, and coordinate with the Lead MMF Maintenance Technician.
• Assist the Landfill Superintendent in enforcing maintenance procedures and monitoring equipment performance.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, order supplies, and support special projects such as mowing, snow removal, and hydro‑seeding.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
• At least three years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment.
• Required certifications for confined‑space entry, attendant, and rescue per the Authority Health and Safety Manual.
• Valid New York State Class B CDL with necessary endorsements.

Required skills

• Heavy‑equipment maintenance and repair.
• Plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
• Reading and interpreting technical schematics and system design drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office Outlook, SCADA, MS Word, Excel, CMMS, and GIS/GPS software.
