About the role

Mount Vernon School is seeking an innovative Middle School Mathematics teacher for grades 6‑8. The role emphasizes project‑based, competency‑driven instruction and collaboration within a forward‑thinking faculty team.

Key responsibilities

• Design interdisciplinary, real‑world math curriculum and assessments in partnership with the math team.
• Maintain comprehensive records of student performance, progress, and goals using MV tools.
• Communicate regularly with families, learning coaches, and external providers.
• Participate in professional growth opportunities, weekly meetings, and division duties.
• Support the social and emotional needs of students through differentiated instruction.
• Maintain an organized, student‑centered learning environment.

Required profile

• Strong background in mathematics content knowledge.
• Ability to create respectful, affirming, and culturally proficient classrooms.
• Experience with competency‑based assessment and mastery learning.
• Familiarity with inquiry‑based pedagogies such as PBL, VTR, QFT, and design thinking.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Google Suite.
• Proficiency with Mac/Apple operating systems.
