Mid-level Controls Engineer – Automation & PLC

About the role

Dubak Electrical Group LLC is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain control systems for manufacturing and automation processes. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in PLC programming, HMI development, and electrical design, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Independently execute design, programming, and commissioning tasks while owning subsystems or small projects.
• Maintain regular client and field interaction, perform service calls, and ensure project schedules are met.
• Write technical scopes of work and estimate small controls projects.
• Develop, procure, and track control system bill of materials using AutoCAD.
• Design and review electrical schematics and control panel layouts in compliance with UL508A standards.
• Conduct testing, validation, and debugging of control systems, and provide technical support and training to maintenance teams.
• Develop and implement automation strategies, integrate motor controls, sensors, and network communication.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motion‑control, safety systems, instrumentation, and process controls.
• Lead control and automation projects, deliver plant check‑out, commissioning, and start‑up services.
• Design, install, and commission protection relays and power meters, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–8 years of experience developing integrated control‑system solutions for manufacturing, packaging, or batch processes.
• Proven experience with HMI programming (FactoryTalk View ME/SE, Ignition) and PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell RSLogix, Studio 5000, CCW).
• Familiarity with control panel design, electrical schematics, and UL508A compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and BlueBeam; ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
