Meter Service Technician

About the role

The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is seeking a Meter Service Technician to install, maintain, disconnect, and inspect electric and gas meters for residential and small commercial customers across the Parish. This field‑based position requires independent work, strong customer service, and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, replace, and calibrate electric and gas meters in line with safety codes and TPCG standards.
• Perform meter disconnections and reconnections for non‑payment or service requests, coordinating with billing teams.
• Accurately record meter readings for billing and routine servicing.
• Inspect meters for malfunctions, tampering, or unauthorized connections and report violations.
• Investigate high‑consumption complaints, evaluate meter function, and communicate findings to customers.
• Conduct routine maintenance, replace defective meters, and troubleshoot stuck or faded meters.
• Complete work orders for abnormal usage cases and ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.
• Utilize PPE, perform daily vehicle safety checks, and respond to emergency events as needed.

Required profile

• Valid Louisiana driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently in the field and interact professionally with the public.
• Commitment to safety, integrity, and accurate documentation.
